Horror in İzmir: Man shoots ex-fiancée and her mother, then commits suicide
In the Çiğli district of İzmir, a man shot his ex-fiancée and her mother with a handgun in the middle of the street following an argument, then turned the weapon on himself, shooting himself in the chest. The attacker and his ex-fiancée lost their lives in the incident, while the mother was left in critical condition.
The incident occurred around 17:00 at the entrance of the Park Yaşam Ataşehir residential complex in the Yeni neighborhood. According to the information obtained, 35-year-old Necati Yorğun approached his ex-fiancée, 41-year-old Selen Sakın.
After arguing with Sakın and her mother, Serpil K. (70), Yorğun opened fire on the mother and daughter with a handgun he had brought with him.
As Selen Sakın and her mother Serpil K. fell to the ground covered in blood, the armed attacker shot himself in the chest with the same weapon. Upon notification by witnesses, police and medical teams were dispatched to the area.
TWO DEAD, ONE CRITICALLY INJURED
While police teams secured the perimeter, medical personnel determined that Selen Sakın had died at the scene. Serpil K. and the armed attacker, Necati Yorğun, who were found to be critically injured, were rushed to the hospital by ambulance. Necati Yorğun later died at the hospital.
The bodies of Selen Sakın and Necati Yorğun were transported to the İzmir Forensic Medicine Institute morgue following an examination. It was learned that Serpil K.'s treatment at the hospital is ongoing.
The investigation into the incident continues.
