Imam asks for forgiveness from baby Sıla: We could not protect you
A funeral ceremony was held following the passing of baby Sıla, who was subjected to sexual abuse and violence in the Malkara district of Tekirdağ. During the funeral prayer held in the Altınova neighborhood of the Süleymanpaşa district, the imam delivered an emotional speech and asked for forgiveness on behalf of baby Sıla.
The imam who led the funeral prayer said, “Normally, we ask for forgiveness from the deceased, but this is a very different funeral. It is a pain that sears our hearts.
That is why I will ask for forgiveness from our little one, Sıla, on behalf of all of us.
Dear baby Sıla, forgive us, we could not protect you. May the tears we shed for you serve as a catalyst for a new beginning by increasing compassion and sensitivity.
May God forgive all of our shortcomings,” he stated. Following the speech, the funeral prayer was performed.
