Initiated under the leadership of Bağımsız Maden-İş: Production halted

In the action initiated under the leadership of the Independent Miners' Union (Bağımsız Maden-İş), it was reported that the protest would continue during both day and night shifts until their demands are met.

In a statement made by the union, it was noted that workers have suffered a loss of rights following the sale of Polyak Mining, which is part of Fiba Holding owned by the Özyeğin family, to the Chinese company Qitaihe Longcoal Mining.

"1,700 MINERS LAID OFF"

It was stated that, in line with the decision taken by Fiba Holding, 1,700 miners have been laid off in the last 6 months on the grounds of "downsizing," while the 1,243 workers currently employed have been unable to collect their salaries, promotional payments, and retroactive receivables arising from the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

The statement, which noted that there are no guarantees regarding severance and notice pay, underscored that the working environment has become risky in terms of occupational health and safety (OHS).

"WILL CONTINUE UNTIL DEMANDS ARE MET"

Bağımsız Maden-İş called on the Fiba Group, the Qitaihe company, and the Polyak management to take responsibility; to pay the workers' wages and receivables in full, to secure their severance rights, and to urgently provide working conditions in compliance with OHS rules at the workplace.

It was stated that the production stoppage action, which began during the second shift (the afternoon shift), will continue across all shifts until the demands are fulfilled.
