Investigation launched into ship emitting foul odors in Gemlik
The prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into those responsible for a ship waiting off the coast of the Kumla neighborhood in Bursa's Gemlik district, which was alleged to be emitting foul odors into the environment.
It was alleged that an ammonia odor was spreading to the environment from a ship waiting off the coast of the Kumla neighborhood in Bursa's Gemlik district. Following numerous complaints from citizens, a coast guard boat was dispatched to the ship to conduct an inspection. It was stated that the odor in the Kumla and Karacali region was caused by the opening of the ship's ventilation hatches.

It was learned that the Gemlik Chief Public Prosecutor's Office intervened in the matter following the reports, and an investigation was launched against those responsible for the crime of "intentional pollution of the environment" under Article 181 of the Turkish Penal Code. The ship's captain and those responsible also had their statements taken at the Gemlik Courthouse.
