Lighter gas canisters explode in student dormitory

According to the information received, an explosion occurred in the basement of a student dormitory in the Modernevler neighborhood, followed by a fire.

Upon notification, fire department, police, AFAD, and natural gas teams were dispatched to the area.

Ramazan Kazak (25), a third-year Radio and Television student at Süleyman Demirel University who was staying in the room where the explosion occurred, was injured.

Kazak, who suffered burns on his hands, feet, and face, was first taken to Isparta City Hospital by medical teams and subsequently transferred to Antalya City Hospital.

Investigations determined that the explosion was caused by a large number of lighter gas canisters found in the room.

Ahmet Reyhan, a student staying at the dormitory, told reporters that they suddenly heard an explosion and immediately went outside.

Explaining that a fire broke out after the explosion, Reyhan said, "There was an explosion in the room on the lower floor, there was one injured person. They took him to the hospital."

Kerim Remli also noted that he was staying in the room next to the one where the explosion occurred with his friend, and that they noticed the flames after the explosion, adding that the flames spread to their room and the door was destroyed.
