Major price hikes for water and marriage fees for refugees in Nevşehir!
Nevşehir Mayor Rasim Arı announced that they will increase water tariffs and marriage processing fees for refugees living in the city.
Nevşehir Mayor Rasim Arı met with members of the press in the city at the municipality's meeting hall.
"THOSE WHO ARE UNCOMFORTABLE CAN GO TO ANOTHER CITY"
Stating that they have been working for the city since the March 31 local elections, Arı expressed his desire for refugees to leave Nevşehir.
Announcing that they will increase water tariffs and official marriage processing fees for refugees, Arı said, "We are wasting a lot of water. Nevşehir is the city in the region most likely to experience water shortages. We will increase (refugees' water fees) by 250-300 percent. The marriage fee is 750 liras; we are making it 15 thousand liras. They can get married as much as they want. If anyone in this city is uncomfortable with these issues, they can go to another city."
"I AM NOT ISSUING LICENSES TO FOREIGNERS"
Emphasizing that they will close unlicensed businesses, Arı stated, "I am not issuing licenses to any foreigners. 53 percent of the people voted for me for this reason. We have to do what is necessary together."
Arı said that an urban transformation project will be implemented to make Nevşehir a more livable city, and that in this context, an agreement has been reached with 87 percent of the rights holders in the Karasoku neighborhood and its surroundings, with negotiations continuing with the others.
Stating that they are aware that ensuring the historic rock-carved hillside settlement of Kayaşehir receives its fair share from tourism will provide positive benefits to the city's residents and tradespeople, Arı explained that they are preparing projects to create a density of domestic and foreign tourists in this area.
The meeting ended after the journalists' questions were answered.
