Man attacked by a bear in İzmir loses his life
A 70-year-old man who was attacked by a bear while sleeping on a sofa in front of his house in the Seferihisar district of İzmir has passed away at the hospital where he was receiving treatment.
The incident occurred during the night in the Karakoç area of the Doğanbey neighborhood in the Seferihisar district.
According to the information obtained, 70-year-old Osman Gültaş was attacked by a bear that had descended into the area while he was sleeping on a sofa in front of his house.
Upon notification to the 112 Emergency Call Center by those who noticed the situation, gendarmerie and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.
Gültaş, who was seriously injured as a result of the bear attack, was taken to Seferihisar Necat Hepkon State Hospital after initial intervention by medical teams at the scene.
The elderly man, whose life was in danger, was transferred to Dokuz Eylül University Research and Application Hospital following the intervention there.
Despite all the efforts of the doctors at the hospital, Osman Gültaş could not be saved and lost his life.
On the other hand, following the tragic incident, the gendarmerie and teams from the Nature Conservation and National Parks Branch Directorate have launched a large-scale investigation and search operation in the area.
