The incident occurred yesterday afternoon on Turna Street in the Cevatpaşa neighborhood of Bayrampaşa. According to the information obtained, Reşat P. (66), who is in the process of divorcing his wife Gülnur P. (51) and has been living apart from her for 5 months, had previously approached Fikret Korkmaz (63), a butcher who supplied wholesale chicken to his wife's chicken doner restaurant in Gaziosmanpaşa, and threatened him by saying, "You will not supply goods to my wife, you will not sell her products."
Yesterday afternoon, Reşat P. followed the butcher Fikret Korkmaz and blocked his path on Turna Street. The argument that broke out between the two quickly escalated into a physical altercation.
The suspect, who pulled out a knife he was carrying, stabbed Fikret Korkmaz multiple times in the right leg, groin, back, and abdomen before fleeing the scene, while Korkmaz collapsed to the ground covered in blood.
Upon the notification of bystanders, numerous police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Korkmaz, who received initial intervention at the scene, was transported by ambulance to Gaziosmanpaşa Training and Research Hospital in an unconscious state but lost his life due to excessive blood loss.

Launching a comprehensive investigation into the incident, teams from the Bayrampaşa District Police Department's Public Security Bureau examined security cameras in the vicinity. Identifying the suspect as Reşat P. from the footage, the police determined that the suspect had also been injured during the altercation. Checking local hospitals, the teams apprehended and detained the suspect, who was found to be receiving treatment at Sultangazi Haseki Training and Research Hospital.
Confessing to the crime during his interrogation at the police station, Reşat P. stated that he had a prior feud with Fikret Korkmaz because he sold wholesale chicken to his estranged wife, and that the incident occurred as a result of an altercation when they encountered each other on the street. The suspect claimed that he did not remember where he threw the knife used in the crime while fleeing. The murder weapon has not yet been found during searches conducted by police teams at the scene and its surroundings. Having completed his procedures at the Public Security Bureau, the murder suspect Reşat P. was referred to the courthouse. Following his statement to the prosecutor, the suspect was referred to the duty magistrate with a request for his arrest.
