In a statement on his social media account, Yerlikaya noted that the Governor, the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Commander, the Istanbul Provincial Police Chief, the Coast Guard Commander, and relevant unit heads attended the security meeting at the Istanbul Governor's Office.
Emphasizing that the main agenda item of the meeting was the measures to be taken on New Year's Day, Yerlikaya stated, "Just as in our other provinces, we are increasing our measures in Istanbul to ensure we enter the new year in peace and security."
