Mother in mental distress kills one baby, critically injures the other, then dies by suicide
In the Dikili district of İzmir, a woman allegedly experiencing family problems stabbed her two daughters. The 2-year-old child lost her life, while her 3-year-old sister was critically injured. The woman, who died by suicide with the same knife following the incident, passed away at the hospital where she was taken.
The incident occurred yesterday evening in the Salimbey neighborhood. According to the information obtained, 25-year-old Havin Gün, who was alleged to have been suffering from psychological issues and domestic problems, had a mental breakdown at home and stabbed her daughters, Avşin (2) and Nevşin Gün (3).
She then attempted suicide with the same knife. Upon notification, health and police teams were dispatched to the address.
Following initial intervention, the critically injured mother and her children were taken to hospitals by ambulance. Avşin Gün, who was taken under treatment at Dikili State Hospital, could not be saved despite all medical efforts.
The critically injured mother, Havin Gün, passed away at the Çiğli Training and Research Hospital, where she had been transferred, while it was learned that 3-year-old Nevşin Gün, who was transferred to İzmir City Hospital, remains in critical condition.
The father, C.G., who was taken into custody regarding the incident, was released after giving his statement at the police station.
