Mufti's office issues statement regarding late evening call to prayer

In Nevşehir, the evening call to prayer, which was scheduled to be broadcast at 19:06, was delayed by 20 minutes due to a technical malfunction.

In a statement issued by the Provincial Mufti's Office, it was stated that the adhan could not be heard due to a failure in the system, and that the fasts of those who broke their fast at 19:06 were not invalidated.

The statement noted that the time for iftar began at 19:06 and that the inability to hear the adhan due to a technical issue did not harm the fasts observed, and included the following remarks:

"As the public is aware, our adhans in Nevşehir have been broadcast for many years via the 'centralized adhan system.' The centralized adhan system is located at the Alibey Mosque.

This evening, at the time of iftar, our official Halil Arı attempted to activate the centralized adhan system to recite the evening call to prayer; although the technical issue that arose was addressed in a short time, the sound of the adhan could only be heard from our minarets in the following minutes.

Since the fasts were not broken before the proper time, our citizens' fasts have not been invalidated. Therefore, there is no situation that would require the making up of fasts (qada) or expiation (kaffarah). We respectfully announce this to the public, with the wish that the fasts we have observed are accepted."
