Named the hottest district: Thermometers hit 43 degrees

In the Sarıcakaya district of Eskişehir, known for its hot climate, the expected heatwave has taken effect in line with the warnings from the 3rd Regional Directorate of Meteorology.

On the first day of Eid al-Adha, thermometers reached 43 degrees at noon. This high temperature, which is well above seasonal norms, caused difficult moments for the district's residents.

Citizens tried to cool off by frequently consuming water and taking shelter in shaded areas to protect themselves from the extreme heat. Aerial footage of the district was captured by drone during this heatwave.

Sarıcakaya was recorded as Turkey's hottest point in 2023 with 49.5 degrees. Struggling with similarly high temperatures this year as well, the district maintains its title as "Eskişehir's Mediterranean."
