Neighborhood headman stabbed after warning couple in park

The incident took place at İstiklal Yolu Park in the Saraçlar neighborhood. According to the information obtained, Sadettin Küçüktarakçı, the headman of the Saraçlar neighborhood, warned a couple who were allegedly engaging in inappropriate behavior in the park. During the argument that followed the warning, an individual identified as M.Ö. wounded Küçüktarakçı in the hand with a knife he pulled from his pocket.

Küçüktarakçı managed to grab the individual and take the knife from his hand. M.Ö. then attacked Küçüktarakçı with kicks and punches. The attacker, M.Ö., was removed from the scene after bystanders intervened. The injured Küçüktarakçı was taken to a private hospital for treatment. M.Ö., who was apprehended following the incident, was released after his statement was taken.

In the footage captured by the security camera, it can be seen that Küçüktarakçı warns the couple and then descends into the park. During the ensuing argument, the suspect wounds Küçüktarakçı in the hand with a knife he pulled from his pocket. Küçüktarakçı then tries to protect himself by holding the attacker. The individual then attacks Küçüktarakçı.

"I RECEIVED 8 STITCHES IN MY HAND"

Describing the incident, Sadettin Küçüktarakçı said, "A headman is the guardian of a neighborhood. I do my best to ensure my citizens can sit more comfortably in the parks. For the 1.5 years since I became headman, I have been making efforts for families to have picnics and be more comfortable in the park. I have constantly warned everyone to prevent immorality. A couple came here again. They were engaging in inappropriate behavior continuously, not even in the gazebo, but while standing. I told the couple, 'There are families here, there are children, let's not engage in inappropriate behavior.' He told me to 'come down.' I went down, and he came to me. I warned him again, saying, 'My friend, let's not engage in inappropriate behavior here.' He cursed at me and pulled a knife from his waistband. He struck at my hand with the knife, tried to stab my body, and truly tried to kill me. We struggled during that time, and I took the knife from his hand and gave it to another friend. At that moment, I called an ambulance and went to the hospital," he said.

Stating that he does not want the park to be a scene for such incidents, Küçüktarakçı added, "I want the esteemed mayor and my administrative superiors to have cameras installed in the parks. I want the parks to be illuminated and for our security forces to patrol the parks more frequently. Parks have now become a place where all kinds of filth occurs. They are no longer places where people can sit comfortably. Do I have to die here? Do these measures need to be taken only after someone is killed? There should be a camera system in all parks; a camera system is a deterrent for people," he said.
