New development in the case of a family of 3 found dead in Mardin: 1 person arrested
In the Kızıltepe district of Mardin, a weapon believed to have been used in the incident was found in the house where a mother, father, and their 5-year-old daughter lost their lives. A person detained on allegations of tampering with evidence has been arrested.
The incident occurred on November 25 in an apartment building on Mardin Street in the Turgut Özal neighborhood of the Kızıltepe district.
According to the information obtained, neighbors who could not reach the family of 3 reported the situation to the authorities. Upon the notification, health, fire, and police teams were dispatched to the scene. The teams, who entered the house by breaking down the apartment door, determined that Mehmet Kaya (37), his wife Berna Kaya (33), and their 5-year-old daughter Samyeli Kaya were lying motionless on the floor and had lost their lives.
Following the autopsies performed at the Mardin Training and Research Hospital, the bodies of the mother and daughter were received by their relatives.
The bodies of the mother and daughter were sent to Van for burial. The body of the father, whose autopsy procedures were completed, was laid to rest in the cemetery of the rural İşgören neighborhood in the Savur district of Mardin.
WEAPON FOUND
As a result of the meticulous work of the special teams from the Provincial Police Department's Public Security Branch, the weapon believed to have been used in the incident was recovered. An individual named M.C., who was assessed to have attempted to tamper with evidence, was sent to prison.
