Nightmare of fire begins again in Aliağa, İzmir
While the fire that started yesterday in Aliağa was brought under control after 22 hours, a new fire broke out today in a forested area in the region. Efforts to contain the flames, which are affecting the Bozköy neighborhood, are ongoing. Meanwhile, it has been learned that some houses have been evacuated as a precaution.
The forest fire that broke out yesterday afternoon in the Horozgediği neighborhood of İzmir's Aliağa district grew due to strong winds, crossed the borders of Foça, and affected a wide area. Despite aerial and ground firefighting efforts, it was only brought under control this morning.
FLAMES ROSE AGAIN
Following the disaster, flames began to rise again in Aliağa, this time from a forested area in the Bozköy neighborhood. As the fire, which started at 18:55 near industrial facilities, spread to the forest, 6 aircraft and 5 helicopters belonging to the İzmir Regional Directorate of Forestry were dispatched to the region.
INTERVENTION CONTINUES
In addition to aerial intervention, teams are continuing extinguishing efforts on the ground with 25 fire trucks, 9 water tenders, and 5 bulldozers. Meanwhile, it has been learned that some houses in the Bozköy neighborhood, which are threatened by the flames, have been evacuated as a precaution.
CAUSED BY BURNING TRASH
It was reported that the fire in question was caused by trash burned near industrial facilities, and that the perpetrator has been identified by the gendarmerie and legal proceedings have been initiated against them.
NEW FOÇA DIRECTION CLOSED TO TRAFFIC
For the safety of drivers, the connection road in the direction of New Foça on the highway has been closed to traffic. It was reported that traffic flow has been temporarily diverted toward Aliağa.
