Number of live births in Sivas has decreased
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has announced birth statistics for 2024. According to the data, the number of live births in Sivas has been steadily declining in recent years.
In the city, the number of live births, which was 8 thousand 954 in 2017, fell to 8 thousand 285 in 2018, 8 thousand 89 in 2019, 7 thousand 592 in 2020, 7 thousand 157 in 2021, 6 thousand 697 in 2022, 6 thousand 296 in 2023, and 6 thousand 99 in 2024. Of the 6 thousand 99 babies born in Sivas in 2024, 3 thousand 196 were boys and 2 thousand 903 were girls.
The "total fertility rate," which refers to the average number of children a woman can have during her reproductive period, has also fallen to its lowest level in recent years in Sivas. While the total fertility rate in Sivas was 1.35 children in 2024, this rate was recorded as 1.48 children in Turkey.
While the average age of mothers at first birth was 27.3 in Turkey in 2024, it was announced as 26.9 in Sivas.
