Panic over abandoned bag at a bus stop in Malatya: Owner arrived during bomb disposal preparations

A bag left at a bus stop opposite the intercity bus terminal in Malatya caused a brief panic. Upon receiving reports from citizens who noticed the unattended bag, police teams were dispatched to the area.

The incident occurred the other day at the bus stop opposite the Malatya Intercity Bus Terminal (MAŞTİ). Those who saw the bag left at the stop reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center.

Police teams arriving at the scene after the report took security measures in the surrounding area and closed the road to traffic. Following investigations, just as preparations were being made to detonate the bag with a fuse, the owner of the bag arrived at the scene running.

After checks and examinations by the teams, the bag was returned to its owner. The moments when the individual, who stated that he had arrived from Istanbul with his wife, ran toward his bag were recorded by a mobile phone camera.
