Person trying to get a driver's license for 13 years fails for the 18th time: 'If you ask a doctor, even a doctor wouldn't know these questions'

53-year-old Abdurrahman Çelik, who lives in the Kumlu district of Hatay, enrolled in a driving school in 2011 with the dream of getting a driver's license and began taking exams. Although Çelik has been working tirelessly to realize his dream, he has not been able to pass the written exams despite taking 18 of them over 13 years. Most recently, Çelik failed the exam he took for his 2nd attempt on his 5th file. Reacting to the difficulty of the exam, Çelik said that he studies day and night but cannot succeed.

"EVEN A DOCTOR WOULDN'T KNOW THESE QUESTIONS"

Stating that even doctors would have difficulty solving the questions to draw attention to the difficulty of the driver's license exam, Abdurrahman Çelik said, "My situation regarding the driver's license exam started in 2011. Between 2011 and 2024, I renewed my 5th file during this period. I just can't pass the written exam. It's because we didn't read much, I can't understand what I read. If you ask a doctor, even a doctor wouldn't know these questions."

"MY DRIVING IS GOOD BUT I JUST CAN'T PASS THE WRITTEN EXAM"

Stating that he has a car but cannot use it and that he previously received a traffic fine for driving without a license, Çelik noted that his neighbors take him from one place to another, saying, "There is a car in front of my house, but I can't use it. If any of my neighbors have a license, they take me to weddings, funerals, or other places. My neighbors help me. I used to drive without a license before, I got caught and fined. Since I got fined, I haven't driven the car since then. When I first took the driver's license exam, I was 40, now I am 53. I haven't been able to get a license for 13 years. I study the book provided by the driving school, I downloaded some programs on my phone and I study from there too. I study everything, but it just doesn't work, I just can't pass the exam. I study day and night, it doesn't happen. My driving and steering skills are very good, but I just can't pass this written exam. Because of that, I can't get the license."
