In Istanbul's Zeytinburnu district, police teams responding to a tip-off at an address were fired upon with a weapon. After the police returned fire, one of the suspects was neutralized after being shot in the leg.
The incident occurred around 23:00 at 2. Bağ Yolu Street in the Veliefendi neighborhood. Teams from the Zeytinburnu District Police Department's Public Security Bureau went to the house in question following a report.
It was stated that the teams identified themselves to the two suspects inside and warned them to open the door, but encountered resistance for a while. It was learned that after the door was opened, one of the suspects fired at the police.
The suspect, who was wounded in the leg after the teams securing the building returned fire, was taken to the hospital by ambulance following initial intervention at the scene. The other suspect found in the house was taken into custody.
During the work carried out by crime scene investigation teams at the house, a handgun and ammunition, believed to have been used in the incident, were seized. The police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
