Police intervene against group attempting to enter municipal building in Batman
Police intervened against a group that threw stones at officers during an unauthorized march in Batman and attempted to enter the municipal building. 75 people were detained in the ensuing incidents.
Security measures were taken around the municipal building after Batman Mayor Gülistan Sönük was removed from office by the Ministry of Interior due to a finalized 6-year, 3-month prison sentence and ongoing terrorism investigations related to her alleged links to terrorism.
Following the decision, a group held an unauthorized march and continued the demonstration despite police warnings.

While some demonstrators in the group pelted police with stones, police and gendarmerie teams intervened against the protesters using tear gas and water cannon vehicles (TOMA).

75 protesters were detained in the scuffle. While the detained protesters were taken to the police station, security measures around the municipal building continue.
