Police officer caught with 16 kilos of drugs in rental car
A police officer caught with 16 kilos of drugs at a checkpoint in a rental car in Van has been arrested.
According to the information obtained, police officer M.K., who serves at the 2 Nisan Şehit Nihat Akbaş Police Station under the Ipekyolu District Security Directorate, was stopped at a police checkpoint in the Baykan district of Siirt in a vehicle rented in his wife's name, and his vehicle was searched.
During the searches, he was caught with approximately 16 kilos and 3 grams of cannabis. The police officer was first suspended from duty with the governor's approval, and was subsequently arrested by the judicial authorities and sent to prison in Batman.
On the other hand, 318 thousand 400 TL in cash was seized in a bag during a search conducted at his desk in the office where he worked, upon the instructions of the Public Prosecutor's Office.
While the money in question has been confiscated, the investigation is continuing in multiple directions.
