Police officer found dead in creek bed
A police officer serving in Şırnak was found dead in a creek bed in his hometown of Kocaeli, where he had come to visit his family. A large-scale investigation has been launched in the area.
According to the information obtained, the family of police officer Emre Bakkal (28), who was serving in Şırnak and had come to Kocaeli on leave to visit them, notified the police teams after they had not heard from him since the morning hours. Upon the report, police, gendarmerie, and AFAD teams launched a search operation in Kartepe. During the search, the teams noticed a person lying motionless in a creek bed located in the Uzuntarla İbrikdere area.
Marine police who arrived at the scene pulled the individual from the creek. Checks performed by medical teams determined that the individual had lost his life. It was learned that the deceased person was the missing police officer Emre Bakkal and that he was due to return to his duty tomorrow.

Following the investigation by the prosecutor and teams at the scene amidst extensive security measures, Bakkal's lifeless body was taken to the hospital morgue to determine the cause of death.
An investigation into the incident has been launched.
