Police officer responding to KADES alert martyred in Muğla

The incident occurred at a beauty salon located on Pazaryeri Street in the Şeyh neighborhood of the Menteşe district. According to the information obtained, police teams were dispatched to the area following a KADES alert received from the business, which is operated by H.S.

Allegedly, Petty Officer G.Y., who serves at the Muğla Provincial Gendarmerie Command, opened fire with a handgun on police officer Tayfun Baş, who had arrived at the scene following the alert, and on his ex-wife H.S. G.Y. then attempted suicide by shooting himself in the head with the same weapon.

Upon hearing the gunshots, numerous medical and police teams were dispatched to the scene. While the injured G.Y. was taken to Muğla Training and Research Hospital by ambulance, police officer Tayfun Baş and H.S. were taken under treatment at Menteşe State Hospital.

Police officer Tayfun Baş, who was taken to the hospital, could not be saved despite all interventions and was martyred. It was reported that the other two injured individuals remain in critical condition.

Condolence message for the martyred police officer from Interior Minister Çiftçi

Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi issued a condolence message for Police Officer Tayfun Baş, who was martyred as a result of an armed attack in the Menteşe district of Muğla.

In the message he issued regarding the martyrdom of Police Officer Tayfun Baş, who served in the Muğla Public Security Branch Directorate, in an armed attack, Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi stated, "Police Officer Tayfun Baş, serving in the Muğla Public Security Branch Directorate, was wounded as a result of a suspect opening fire at the scene he arrived at following a report; he could not be saved despite all interventions at the hospital where he was taken and was martyred. I wish God's mercy upon our martyr; I extend my condolences to his grieving family, our heroic Police Organization, and our nation. May our martyr's place be high."
