Police officer sentenced to 2 years in prison for drug offense
The police officer on trial in Samsun was acquitted of drug trafficking charges but was sentenced to 2 years in prison for "possession of drugs for personal use" and subsequently released.
The trial of police officer B.M., who was arrested on August 12, 2025, on charges of drug trafficking, concluded today at the Samsun 6th High Criminal Court.
B.M. stated that the substance seized in his home belonged to him, but that he had no connection to the methamphetamine found in an abandoned building near his home, nor to the climate control system and cannabis plants set up for cultivation.
The court panel ruled to acquit the defendant of the drug trafficking charge on the grounds that there was insufficient evidence.
Defendant B.M. was sentenced to 2 years in prison for "possession of drugs for personal use." Taking into account the time he spent in custody, the court ordered his release.
