Retired police officer causes terror
In Adana, a retired police officer shot and killed his ex-wife at her workplace and then attempted suicide.
According to the information obtained, the incident occurred at a kiosk located at the entrance of Turgut Özal Boulevard in the central Çukurova district.
Allegedly, retired police officer Recep Ç. (54) arrived at the kiosk where his ex-wife, Esengül Kaya (48), whom he divorced 3 years ago, was working. Following an argument between the two, Recep Ç. shot his ex-wife with a handgun and then fled the scene. Upon notification by bystanders, health and police teams were dispatched to the area.
While health teams determined that Esengül Kaya had lost her life at the scene, police teams began pursuing Recep Ç.
The light commercial vehicle driven by Recep Ç. was signaled to stop by gendarmerie teams at the entrance of Mustafalar Neighborhood on the Kozan road in the Sarıçam district.
At that moment, retired police officer Recep Ç. attempted suicide with the weapon he had with him.
It was learned that the condition of Recep Ç., who was taken to the hospital by health teams, is critical, and an investigation into the incident has been launched.
