Sentence handed down to individual who stabbed friend and threw them from balcony

The incident occurred on May 29, 2024, in the İnönü neighborhood. According to the information obtained, an argument broke out between foreign national B.D. (44) and foreign national M.N.K. (34) due to a dispute over drug trafficking. As the argument escalated, B.D. grabbed a knife and stabbed M.N.K., injuring him. B.D. then attacked M.N.K., who had fled to the balcony to escape, with an iron chair and threw him from the third-floor balcony. M.N.K., who was seriously injured, was treated at the Kastamonu Training and Research Hospital. The suspect was apprehended by police teams along with the knife used in the crime and was taken into custody. B.D. was arrested after being referred to the courthouse.

Following the incident, a lawsuit was filed against B.D. and N.K. at the Kastamonu High Criminal Court for the crimes of "attempted intentional homicide and simple assault."

"HE PLANNED TO GET ME SENT TO PRISON"

In his final defense during the verdict hearing, B.D. stated, "I did not push anyone from the balcony. I did not touch him. I do not accept the accusations. This person made a plan to get me sent to prison. He pulled a knife on me, which is why these events happened. I absolutely do not accept the accusations leveled against me. I definitely did not act with the intent to kill. They wanted to force me to sell drugs, and when I refused, he pulled a knife and attacked me. I acted in self-defense because he attacked me during the fight that broke out over transporting drugs. I was also injured," he said.

Furkan Kılıç, the lawyer for N.K., who was being tried without arrest, requested that his client be acquitted in accordance with the prosecutor's opinion.

The court panel sentenced B.D. to 13 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of "attempted intentional homicide." The court panel also decided to acquit N.K., who was seriously injured after falling from the third-floor balcony following the stabbing during the fight.
