Shops run by foreign nationals illegally in Bursa's Yenişehir sealed

Yenişehir Municipality Police Department teams, acting on the instructions of Mayor Ercan Özel, conducted inspections of businesses known to be operated by foreigners in the district.

Checking business opening licenses, the validity of licenses, the compliance of signage, and hygienic conditions, the Police Department teams determined that 3 businesses were operating without a license and that 2 businesses had expired operating licenses, and initiated legal proceedings. The workplaces of 5 foreigners who did not complete their paperwork within the given time were sealed.

Yenişehir Mayor Ercan Özel made a statement on the matter, reminding that before taking office, he had promised not to turn a blind eye to illegal and unlicensed businesses run by asylum seekers in Yenişehir, and stated that this was necessary to protect local tradespeople.

Stating that as the Yenişehir Municipality, they provide the necessary convenience to everyone who fulfills their procedures within the framework of legal regulations, Mayor Ercan Özel said, “We reiterate our promise that we will use all our legal rights within the framework of the law against those who engage in such illegal attempts. Our fellow citizens should rest assured. We will not allow anyone who comes to our country as an asylum seeker and opens a business here illegally, employs unregistered workers, violates the rights of our people, or plays with the health of our citizens to get away with it.”
