The incident occurred yesterday evening in the Eski Misis neighborhood of the central Yüreğir district. According to allegations, a bullet from a handgun that discharged for reasons yet to be determined struck 6-year-old B.Y.
Upon notification, gendarmerie and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.
The child was taken to Adana City Training and Research Hospital by medical teams and placed under treatment. The gendarmerie teams, who launched an investigation into the incident, detained the older brother, F.Y., who was considered a suspect.
Following his processing at the gendarmerie, F.Y. was referred to the courthouse and was arrested by the duty magistrate.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
