Statement from the Istanbul Governor's Office regarding the explosion in Güngören
The Istanbul Governor's Office announced that 2 people were injured in an explosion in Güngören, which is believed to have been caused by natural gas according to initial findings.
In a statement issued by the Istanbul Governor's Office, it was stated that "On Thursday, December 4, 2025, at around 19:00, an explosion occurred in a building located on Hanzer Street in the Güven neighborhood of the Güngören district. Emergency teams were dispatched to the scene immediately. A large number ofFire department, AFAD, and UMKE teams were dispatched to the scene. Following the incident, thefire that broke out was extinguished byfirefightingcrews. According to initialfindings, the natural gasthought to be caused by natural gasintheexplosion, two peoplewere injured. The injured were taken by medical teams tohospitals in the areaand are currently receiving treatment; the individuals are not in life-threatening condition," the statement read.
