Steel safes not claimed after Kahramanmaraş earthquake opened

In the Elbistan district of Kahramanmaraş, 37 steel safes recovered from the rubble after the earthquake that had not been claimed until now have been opened.

Steel safes not claimed after Kahramanmaraş earthquake opened

In a statement made by the Kahramanmaraş Provincial Police Department, it was stated that the steel safes recovered from the rubble in the Elbistan district were opened under the coordination of a commission established by the Elbistan District Governorate, and that the items and documents removed from the safes were delivered to their owners or heirs.

1,397 HISTORICAL ARTIFACTS

It was determined that the 37 steel safes kept by the Provincial Police Department began to be opened in the presence of the commission, and it was found that 10 of the opened safes were empty, 26 safes contained worthless documents and items, and 1 safe contained a total of 1,397 materials thought to be of historical artifact quality.

It was stated that the owners of 12 of the opened safes were identified and deliveries were made, and that identification efforts are continuing regarding the 14 safes containing worthless documents and items. 

Furthermore, it was reported that an investigation has been launched under the coordination of the Elbistan Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the safe containing materials of historical artifact quality.
