In the Mudanya district of Bursa, an administrative sanction was imposed on a chain supermarket after a mobile phone camera recorded a cat eating packaged meat at the butcher counter.
The incident occurred at a supermarket operating in the Bademli neighborhood. A shopper recorded the moments when a cat entered the cabinet at the butcher counter, opened a package, and ate the meat. The footage showed the cat wandering in the section where the meat was kept and coming into contact with the product.
Following the spread of the footage on social media, teams from the Mudanya District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry inspected the supermarket. During the inspection, the meat in the counter was seized for destruction, and an administrative fine of 52,800 TL was imposed on the business.
It was alleged that the citizen had warned the employees when the cat entered the store, but was told, "It won't do anything, ma'am."
The following statement was included in the announcement:
“Regarding the footage stated to have been filmed in a supermarket operating within the borders of our province, an immediate investigation and inspection were carried out by the inspection teams of our relevant District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry. As a result of the inspections, upon the determination that hygiene rules were not followed, an administrative sanction was applied to the relevant business within the scope of the legislation.”
