Strong wind warning in Istanbul: Some groves and city forests closed to visitors

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) has announced that some groves, city forests, and green spaces across the city have been closed to visitors as a precautionary measure due to strong winds expected to affect the region.

According to meteorological assessments, winds in Istanbul are expected to reach speeds of 40-70 kilometers per hour and blow as a storm in some areas. The IMM stated that visitor access has been temporarily suspended due to the risk of falling branches and uprooted trees.

The areas closed to visitors today as part of these measures are as follows:

• - Emirgan Grove
• - Yıldız Grove
• - Gülhane Grove
• - Küçük Çamlıca Grove
• - Büyük Çamlıca Grove
• - Fethipaşa Grove
• - Hidiv Kasrı Grove
• - Beykoz Grove
• - Büyükdere Atatürk Nursery
• - Atatürk City Forest
• - Florya Atatürk City Forest
• - Büyükçekmece Natural Life Park

The IMM announced that these areas will be reopened to visitors once the effects of the strong winds and storm have subsided.

The IMM Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) also called on Istanbul residents to follow meteorological warnings. AKOM reminded citizens to be careful and take precautions, especially in wooded areas, while the strong winds are active.
