SunExpress plane causes panic due to landing gear malfunction

According to the information obtained, a technical issue occurred in the landing gear of a SunExpress plane arriving from Zurich to Gaziantep Airport as it was landing.

Following the discovery of the malfunction, there was a brief period of panic at the airport, and teams intervened in the incident quickly.

After the plane landed safely, cleaning and maintenance work was initiated on the runway as a precautionary measure.

Due to the ongoing work, flights at the airport were temporarily suspended.

It was learned that Gaziantep Airport will be reopened to flight traffic once the work is completed.

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure issued a statement regarding the plane that had a tire burst after landing at Gaziantep Airport.

In the statement made on the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure's social media account, it was stated, "The SunExpress passenger plane with tail registration TC-SPE, which was performing the Stuttgart-Gaziantep flight, had a tire burst and damage occurred to its front landing gear after landing at Gaziantep Airport. Following the incident, 186 passengers and 6 crew members on board were safely evacuated. Necessary investigation and evaluation processes regarding the incident have been initiated."
