Support for Cemil Tugay from Konak Municipality

The June meeting of the İzmir Konak Municipal Council was held at the Selahattin Akçiçek Cultural Center. During the meeting, changes in municipal administration and the strike process at İZELMAN and İZENERJİ, companies affiliated with the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, were discussed.

Mayor Nilüfer Çınarlı Mutlu, in her statement regarding the strike process, said, "We care about public health and respect the pursuit of rights. However, this process must not reach a dimension that threatens the health of the public." Mutlu also drew attention to the political and economic pressures faced by municipalities, noting that fiscal discipline has been disrupted.

Mayor Mutlu stated that cleaning services were disrupted during the two-day strike they experienced recently and that this was felt in the city. She added, "There were accumulations in areas like Kordon and Kıbrıs Şehitleri. We care about public health and are working to ensure such situations do not recur."

SUPPORT FOR CEMİL TUGAY

Mayor Mutlu stated that they support İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay, saying, "As all district mayors, we stand with Cemil Tugay. We are not leaving him alone in this process." She also added that they would seek different legal avenues to resolve the financial difficulties of the municipalities.

CEMEVİ PROJECT AND CLEANING CAMPAIGN

Touching upon the Cemevi project planned for Ferahlı, Mutlu said that the area is a wooded region and is therefore being evaluated as a park. "Instead of cutting down the trees, we are researching building the Cemevi in another area," she said.

Finally, Mayor Mutlu announced that they would launch a campaign against cleaning problems in the city. "We are planning a major cleaning operation before the holiday. We will work together to keep the city clean," she stated.
