A large number of workers who consumed meals distributed to various businesses by a catering company operating in the Kemalpaşa district of İzmir have fallen ill. It was reported that the workers, who experienced symptoms of nausea and vomiting, sought medical attention at hospitals due to suspected food poisoning.
It was stated that the number of workers who applied to healthcare facilities reached 80 after similar complaints emerged at different workplaces that received catering services from the same company.
It was reported that the affected workers were taken under treatment at Kemalpaşa State Hospital, Turgutlu State Hospital, Manisa City Hospital, Bornova Türkan Özilhan State Hospital, and Ege University Hospital. It was learned that the health status of the workers is good.
Following the suspicion of food poisoning, samples were taken from the facility where the meals were prepared. It is expected that the investigation of the samples sent to the laboratory will clarify whether the illnesses were caused by the consumed meals.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
