Suspicious object falls into a hazelnut orchard in Düzce: Believed to be a UAV

A suspicious object was found in a hazelnut orchard in the village of Yeşilköy in the Akçakoca district of Düzce. Murat Biriktir, who went to his orchard to spray it, reported the object he saw in the field to the 112 Emergency Call Center.

Following the report, gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the region. The teams secured the scene and brought the area under control.

In a statement made by the Düzce Governor's Office, it was noted that a report was received on August 15, 2026, at approximately 11:30 AM, regarding a suspicious object falling into a hazelnut orchard in the village of Yeşilköy in the Akçakoca district.

The statement noted that relevant security units were dispatched to the region and that initial assessments suggest the object could be an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

The Governor's Office announced that expert teams are continuing their work to definitively determine the nature and technical specifications of the object. A judicial investigation into the incident has been initiated by the Düzce Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

The statement also indicated that the investigations are being carried out meticulously and that there are no negative circumstances that would cause concern for citizens.
