Swerved to avoid a motorcycle, crashed into a bus
In Istanbul's Küçükçekmece district, a car driver who swerved to avoid a motorcycle in traffic first knocked down a road sign, then crossed into the opposite lane and collided with an IETT bus. The motorcycle rider fell and was injured in the accident.
The incident occurred on Turgut Özal Boulevard in the Atakent neighborhood of Istanbul's Küçükçekmece district. According to the information obtained, the driver of the car with license plate 34 PMG 924, identified as Y.K., was turning from the boulevard onto 221st Street when they swerved to avoid hitting a motorcycle with license plate 34 MTP 147, driven by Tarık Ziyad B., who was attempting to turn in the same direction at the time.
While the motorcycle tipped over onto the road, the car lost control, knocked down a directional sign on the median, and then collided with an IETT bus with license plate 34 NL 6557 in the opposite lane.
Upon notification, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Tarık Ziyad B., who was injured after falling from the motorcycle, was taken to the hospital.
The car driver, Y.K., was taken to the police station to provide a statement.
The accident resulted in property damage to both the car and the bus. An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
