Tax Chief Inspector Serap Doğan had obtained a restraining order against her killer

It has emerged that Tax Chief Inspector Serap Doğan, who was murdered in Ankara, had previously obtained a restraining order and filed a criminal complaint against Selahattin Özdemir, the man who shot and killed her.

In the petition submitted by the late Doğan to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was noted that she had requested that Özdemir be placed under supervision with an electronic monitoring tag.

"IF YOU DON'T MARRY ME, I WILL KILL YOU"

In the statement included in her petition, Doğan explained that Özdemir had threatened her by saying, “I am going to get a divorce and marry you. If you don't marry me, I have two guns, and I will kill you with these guns.

I have acquaintances in the police department; I will also have the complaint you filed last month deleted," she recounted.

The late Doğan stated in her petition that she had distanced herself from Özdemir after learning he was married, and that she was subsequently threatened.

Following this, Doğan filed a criminal complaint with the Elazığ Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and obtained a restraining order against Özdemir.

"HE VIOLATED THE RESTRAINING ORDER"

In her petition, Doğan stated that Özdemir had made remarks against her such as, “I will cut off your hands and feet, you have spent a lot of my money. Either we will get married or you will give me my money back." It was reported that Özdemir subsequently called the late Doğan and used the expressions, “You will send my money; it is a lie that you went to Elazığ for duty.

I will harm you and your family, send the money and let this be over. I am losing my mind and I feel like emptying the bullets." Following this threat, Doğan sent 55 thousand liras to Özdemir's bank account. Özdemir, who was subject to a restraining order following the complaint, violated this order multiple times.

After the incident, while walking to her home, Doğan noticed that Özdemir was following her and called the police. According to the information obtained, the police officers who arrived upon the call said, "There is no arrest warrant for him; even if we find the man, how are we supposed to take him in?" The police teams could not locate Özdemir during their search. Following this incident, Doğan filed a complaint against Özdemir for threatening her. Despite the restraining order against him, Özdemir went to Doğan's home on May 29. Özdemir, who shot and killed Doğan, then took his own life by shooting himself with the same weapon.
