The cause of the odor enveloping the city has been revealed

In Burdur, a gas odor across the city caused brief panic during the evening hours. Initially, citizens thought the gas was leaking in their own homes and opened their doors and windows to ventilate them.

Some citizens who noticed that the gas smell intensified after opening their windows went outside and saw that the same smell was prevalent in the open air as well. Shortly after the reports were received, an announcement regarding the spreading odor was made from the Burdur Municipality loudspeakers.

The announcement stated that the situation arose due to a technical malfunction at the Torosgaz gas pressure station located in the Kışla neighborhood, which caused the substance used to odorize natural gas to spread into the air for a while, and that the situation was not dangerous.

"THERE IS NO NEED FOR OUR CITIZENS TO BE CONCERNED"

The Burdur Governorship published an informational message from Torosgaz regarding the issue on its social media accounts. The message stated: "Due to a technical malfunction at our natural gas pressure station, the substance used to odorize natural gas was released into the air for a short time. This situation is not a gas leak and does not pose any danger. The odor originates from the odorant added to the system to ensure the safe use of natural gas. The malfunction has been resolved by our teams, and necessary checks in the field are continuing meticulously. There is no need for our citizens to be concerned."

Citizens who smelled the odor said they experienced a brief moment of panic and went outside their homes.
