The heavy rainfall that began in Istanbul the day before yesterday and intensified yesterday evening has negatively affected life in various parts of the city. While puddles formed on streets and avenues, some underpasses, homes, workplaces, a metro station, and the basement of a school were left underwater.
Flooding, retaining wall collapses, and transportation disruptions occurred in Sarıyer Ayazağa, Bağcılar, Beşiktaş, Kağıthane, Küçükçekmece, Üsküdar, Şile, and Beykoz. While teams continued evacuation and cleaning efforts, roads in some areas were closed to traffic as a precaution.

FLOODING IN SARIYER, AYAZAĞA, AND YENİBOSNA
Some vehicles were stranded on Kemerburgaz Street in Sarıyer Ayazağa as the water level rose. The street was closed to traffic for a while, and police teams took security measures in the area with traffic cones.

Workers at a concrete factory in Ayazağa, affected by the downpour, were also stranded throughout the night. The workers were moved to a safe area by construction equipment dispatched to the region.

The rainfall also affected public transportation hubs. Efforts were initiated to drain the water that had accumulated at the Yenibosna Metro Station. Officials emptied the water using electric water pumps while also placing slippery floor warnings.

The basement of Karacaoğlan Primary School in Bağcılar was also flooded. Upon notification, fire department teams went to the school and worked to drain the accumulated water with pumps.

RETAINING WALLS COLLAPSED, STREAM FLOW RATES INCREASED
The retaining wall of the Naile Sultan Grove, located on Portakal Yokuşu Street in Beşiktaş's Ortaköy neighborhood, collapsed following the heavy rainfall. The broken debris hit the entrances of surrounding buildings. While the pieces that fell onto the road were removed through the efforts of police and fire department teams, the section of the street heading toward Ulus was closed to traffic as a precaution.

In Kağıthane's Harmantepe neighborhood, the retaining wall of an apartment building also collapsed. As the flow rate of the Cendere Stream increased in the district, the garden and interior of the Sadabad Mosque were left underwater. There were also disruptions in traffic flow around Sadabat Street.

In Küçükçekmece, it was observed that the water levels in the Nakkaş and Ayamama streams had risen. On Kanal Street in the İnönü neighborhood, a municipal vehicle fell into a hole formed by the impact of the rainfall.

There was also flooding at the Booksellers' Bazaar (Sahaflar Çarşısı) in Üsküdar. Zeynep Yeşil, one of the shopkeepers at the bazaar, stated that the drains overflowed in a short time with the rainfall and said, "The shop filled with water all of a sudden. The water caused backpressure. When it caused backpressure, unfortunately, we became victims. Our books got wet."

FLOOD ALARM IN ŞİLE AND BEYKOZ
With the overflowing of the Türknil River in Şile, some streets in the Kumbaba neighborhood were left underwater. While homes along the river were flooded, police teams closed roads passing through risky points to traffic as a precaution. Citizens tried to perform water drainage and cleaning with their own means.

Mercan Kaplan, one of the neighborhood residents, stated that similar problems are experienced every year and said, "No solution can be found. We are victims; my wife and child are elsewhere, I am struggling here, everyone is struggling. Water is constantly coming out of the house's parquet floors and drains; we cannot stop the water. In the basement, water is leaking from the walls in the same way."

In Beykoz, some surrounding fields were left underwater as the water level of the Riva Stream rose. In the Göllü area of the district, the main street and a children's playground were also affected by the rainfall.

Beykoz Municipality announced that teams are on alert against heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions. The municipality called on citizens not to go out unless necessary and reported that Beykoz restaurants in the district are open with free soup service for those stranded or in need.
After the downpour, it was observed that the color of the sea turned brown in some coastal parts of the Bosphorus. On the Anatolian Side, around Göztepe, Yenisahra, and Maltepe, it was observed that the rainfall continued lightly in places.
