Third death reported in Burdur dialysis incident

Amina Abas Jama, a 67-year-old Somali national, has passed away after being transferred to Antalya City Hospital following complications from dialysis treatment in Burdur on May 25. The death toll from the incident has risen to 3, while 18 patients continue to receive treatment.

Third death reported in Burdur dialysis incident

Some patients who underwent dialysis at Burdur State Hospital during the 08:00-12:00 and 12:00-16:00 sessions on Saturday, May 25, returned to the hospital with complaints such as dizziness, nausea, confusion, and an inability to get off the transport vehicle. 

Following this, the hospital administration called in all patients who had received dialysis that day. After conducting examinations, they transferred 33 patients who had been treated at the dialysis center that day to state hospitals and private dialysis centers in Afyonkarahisar, Isparta, Antalya, and Bucak. Of the 33 transferred patients, 14 had been intubated.

12 PATIENTS DISCHARGED

Amina Abas Jama (67), a Somali national who was transferred by ambulance to Antalya City Hospital and intubated there, passed away this afternoon. Mustafa Demir, who could not be saved yesterday at Antalya Akdeniz University Hospital, and Saniye Aksöz, who passed away this morning at Antalya City Hospital, were laid to rest in their hometown of Burdur.

The Burdur Provincial Health Directorate announced on its official website that 12 patients have been discharged following the completion of their treatment, while 2 of the 18 patients still undergoing treatment remain intubated.
