Third hearing held in trial of husband who stabbed his wife

The incident occurred on January 2, 2025, in Cumhuriyet Neighborhood. According to allegations, Birol Ordulu (45), who had a restraining order against him under Law No. 6284, entered the house using a key he obtained from his son while his wife was not at home.

The attacker, who hid behind the door, threatened his wife Muradiye Ordulu (38) by holding a weapon to her head when she returned home, and after an argument ensued, he stabbed the woman five times.

Muradiye Ordulu, who was seriously injured, was discharged after a long treatment process. Birol Ordulu was arrested and sent to prison.

The trial of Birol Ordulu on charges of "attempted premeditated murder against a spouse" continued. No verdict was reached at the 3rd hearing held at the Bafra Courthouse, and the case was adjourned to Monday, June 16.

The victim's lawyer, Rabiya Türkmen, said, "My client was subjected to both physical and psychological violence for years. The incident on January 2 is not an ordinary act of violence; it is a premeditated attempted murder.

The defendant violated the restraining order issued against him, entered my client's home without permission, and stabbed her five times after threatening her with a weapon. This case is one where a femicide was narrowly avoided. It is now a necessity for justice to be served at the highest level."

"I HAVE NO SECURITY OF LIFE"

Muradiye Ordulu, who survived the attack by chance, said in a statement after the hearing, "I want him to receive the punishment he deserves. I am afraid that if he gets out of prison anytime soon, he will finish the job he left half-done. He even threatens me with letters from prison. I am afraid because I still have no security of life. I am waiting for justice to be served," she said.
