Traffic density in Istanbul reaches 80 percent with snowfall
Following warnings from the General Directorate of Meteorology, snowfall has become effective in Istanbul, and traffic density reached 80 percent during the evening rush hour as the precipitation intensified. Traffic congestion on the Basın Ekspres Road was captured by drone.
The General Directorate of Meteorology and AKOM had issued a snowfall warning for Istanbul.
While snowfall occurred intermittently in some districts of the megacity throughout the day, traffic congestion formed during the evening rush hour. Due to the density, traffic came to a standstill at times on the Basın Ekspres Road and the E-5 Highway in the Yenibosna area in both the European and Anatolian directions.
As of 18:30, it was observed that the traffic density caused by the precipitation reached 80 percent on the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's traffic application.
