Tragedy after tandem jump in Fethiye: Parachutist loses life
Polish national Mark Daniel, who was performing a tandem jump at Babadağ in Fethiye, lost his life after falling into rocks. The pilot accompanying him, Mustafa Gökhan Toygar, was rescued with injuries.
In the Fethiye district of Muğla, a tandem jump at Babadağ has ended in tragedy. As part of the 25th International Air Games Festival, Polish national parachutist Mark Daniel and the paragliding pilot accompanying him, Mustafa Gökhan Toygar, fell into rocks while jumping around 12:00.
DISASTER DURING TANDEM JUMP
Shortly after the jump, for reasons yet to be determined, the parachute struck the rocks. Upon notification by citizens in the area, health, gendarmerie, and search-and-rescue teams were dispatched to the scene.
The teams reaching the scene determined that Mark Daniel had lost his life, while they found pilot Mustafa Gökhan Toygar injured. The injured Toygar was airlifted from the area by a military helicopter and taken to Fethiye State Hospital for treatment. It was reported that Toygar's health condition is stable.
INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED INTO THE INCIDENT
The Fethiye Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the incident.
