Two engineers arrested in Burdur dialysis incident

Some patients who received dialysis at Burdur State Hospital on Saturday, May 25, during the 08:00-12:00 and 12:00-16:00 sessions returned to the hospital with complaints such as dizziness, nausea, confusion, and an inability to get out of the transport vehicle.

Upon this, the hospital administration called all patients who had received dialysis that day back to the hospital, and following examinations, transferred the 33 patients who had been treated at the dialysis center that day to state hospitals and private dialysis centers in Afyonkarahisar, Isparta, Antalya, and Bucak.

Of the transferred patients, 23 were taken under treatment in Antalya, 6 in Afyonkarahisar, 3 in Isparta, and 1 in Denizli. Among the patients who were intubated in Antalya, Mustafa Demir (70), Saniye Aksöz (88), and Somali national Amina Abas Jama (67) lost their lives.

SENT TO PRISON

Following the report by experts from the Ministry of Health who came to the hospital to conduct investigations, hospital electrical technician İ.S., technician M.C., and mechanical engineers G.A.S. and Y.A. from the contractor company involved in the hospital's construction and project phase, who were considered to have negligence, were detained on charges of "causing death by negligence" and "causing injury by negligence." The 4 suspects were referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station were completed.

Of the suspects brought to the courthouse, hospital staff İ.S. and M.C. were released after giving their statements to the prosecutor, while the contractor company mechanical engineers G.A.S. and Y.A., who were involved in the hospital's construction and project phase, were arrested by the court on charges of "causing death by negligence" and "causing injury by negligence" and sent to prison.
