Up to 4 years and 8 months in prison requested for doctor who insulted the President
An indictment has been prepared against a doctor arrested in Üsküdar for "threatening with a weapon" and "insulting the President." The indictment requests up to 4 years and 8 months in prison for the doctor on the charge of "insulting the President."
An investigation was launched by the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into a doctor who was determined to have brandished a weapon at staff, sprayed pepper spray at patients, intimidated them with a taser, and insulted President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at Üsküdar State Hospital.
The doctor, identified as O.K.K., who was determined to have carried out these incidents, was taken into custody, and 5 air pistols, 3 tasers, and 2 canisters of pepper spray were seized during searches of his home and vehicle.
In his statement to the prosecutor's office, the doctor claimed he was under the influence of medication and did not remember the words he used during the incidents.
The investigation conducted by the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has been completed. The prepared indictment requests up to 4 years and 8 months in prison for the doctor on the charge of "insulting the President." The doctor's trial is set to begin in the coming days.
