While the detained defendant Kıvanç Şenöz attended the verdict hearing at the Antalya 1st High Criminal Court via the SEGBİS video conferencing system, the complainant party and their lawyers were also present in the courtroom.

During the hearing, the court panel announced its verdict in line with the prosecutor's final opinion. Defendant Kıvanç Şenöz was sentenced to life imprisonment for "intentional homicide." Additionally, the defendant was fined 36 thousand TL for insulting words directed at the victim's family.

Given the floor before the verdict, the victim's mother stated, "I want him to receive a heavy sentence because my son died in a horrific way. May he never smile again." The father, Mr. Yıldırıcı, stated that the defendant continued to assault his son while he lay motionless on the ground, saying, "He is slamming the skull of a child lying motionless on the ground heavily against the floor.

On top of that, he is acting like a doctor. He lifts him up, lays him back down, slaps him. Doctors said this was very wrong. He extinguished our child's life. We lost our child, who was like a rose, our hope," he said.

Defendant Kıvanç Şenöz, in his final statement, said, "I am sorry for causing such an incident. I apologize to the family."

BACKGROUND OF THE INCIDENT

The incident occurred on October 12, 2024, in the Altınova neighborhood of Antalya's Kepez district. According to the indictment, defendant Kıvanç Şenöz was selling flowers on social media with his foreign national wife. The defendant saw that a photo of flowers taken with his wife had been shared on the social media account of florist Eşref Yunus Yıldırıcı. Upon this, the defendant called Yıldırıcı on the phone on October 11 and threatened him with death, saying, "Do not cross my path, I will not forgive you wherever I find you." Speaking to the victim's sister, Firdevs Yıldırıcı, on the same day, Şenöz continued his threats, saying, "I will settle your bill."

It was stated that on the day of the incident, the defendant also called the victim's uncle, Ali Okur, saying, "I will beat him, I will kill him," and met him at the florist warehouse in Altınova. According to security camera footage, Şenöz punched Yıldırıcı directly without saying a word. The defendant, who kicked Yıldırıcı after he fell to the ground, then lifted him from the ground with both hands and slammed him to the floor once more. 29-year-old Eşref Yunus Yıldırıcı, who was taken to Kepez State Hospital, lost his life despite all interventions.

In the indictment prepared against the defendant, a life sentence was requested for the crime of "intentional homicide." In the trial held at the Antalya 1st High Criminal Court, the prosecution also requested the same sentence in its final opinion.
