A vehicle belonging to the AKP-run Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality dumped garbage within the borders of the CHP-run Izmit Municipality. The incident was captured on camera, and the Mayor of Izmit reacted to the situation.

Reacting strongly to the situation, CHP Izmit Mayor Fatma Kaplan Hürriyet shared the footage on her social media account. Hürriyet stated, "A constant operation, a constant insidious perception management."

"WE ARE FIGHTING AGAINST SEVEN POWERS, I SWEAR"

Mayor Hürriyet said, "We are fighting against seven powers, I swear. On one side the metropolitan municipality, on the other their cronies. A constant operation, a constant insidious perception management! And here is the latest; while our teams were working in the Sanayi neighborhood, they filmed a transit vehicle belonging to the Metropolitan Municipality dumping garbage bags into containers belonging to the Izmit Municipality."

"THEY MUST THINK WE ARE A TRANSFER STATION"

Stating that they cannot understand why the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality fills containers reserved for public daily use when it has its own waste management system and a waste disposal facility like İZAYDAŞ, Hürriyet said, "Moreover, the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, which is required by law to provide us with a transfer station, has still not fulfilled this promise despite giving its word. Despite this, they must think we are a transfer station."

Continuing her statement, Hürriyet said, "Stating that this situation is not only a lack of planning but also an action that directly harms the municipality's cleaning services, Hürriyet added, 'Dumping garbage in this way into containers used for the public's daily household waste both strains capacity and disrupts the cleaning order. Why does the Metropolitan Municipality prefer to use Izmit's, that is, the public's, containers instead of disposing of its own garbage? Moreover, while they could dispose of that garbage all at once, they are trying to dump it into containers piece by piece. Furthermore, by consuming extra overtime and fuel. We do not understand why they are committing this WASTE!'"
