Warning from Yalova Governor's Office: 'Do not drink tap water'
While water cuts continue across the city due to foaming observed in the water at the Kurtköy diversion of the Gökçe Dam, which supplies Yalova's drinking water, the Yalova Governor's Office has announced the initial analysis results. The Governor's Office stated that comprehensive analysis processes are ongoing and therefore tap water should not be consumed for drinking. The statement reported that there is no risk in using the water for cleaning and hygiene purposes.
On the evening of January 29, foaming was detected in the water at the Kurtköy diversion, and subsequently, water cuts were implemented throughout the city.
While the water cuts continue, the Yalova Governor's Office made a statement regarding the water analyses. The following statements were included in the announcement regarding the use of tap water:
"Regarding the foaming observed in the Kadıköy/Kurtköy regulator pool that feeds our province's water source, according to the initial analysis results conducted by the Ministry of Health's Public Health Laboratory, it has been determined that there is no risk in using the water solely for hygiene purposes.
However, definitive and comprehensive analysis processes are ongoing.
Until the results are announced, it is recommended that the water be used only for general cleaning and hygiene purposes; it should not be consumed as drinking water, should not be used in food preparation (cooking, tea, etc.), and should not be used for oral hygiene.
The public will be informed and necessary announcements will be made after the detailed analyses are completed."
