Woman kills her disabled son, attempts suicide

The incident took place in the Yiğitler neighborhood of Bursa.

Ümran Ö., born in 1971, who had been suffering from psychological issues since the Ramadan Feast and was receiving treatment for them, killed her son Yusuf Hakan Ö., born in 1993, who was born with a disability, with a sharp object and then attempted suicide.

Father Ahmet Ö., who returned from work, saw that the bathroom door was open after entering his home.

Approaching the door, Ahmet Ö. saw his son and wife lying motionless on the floor and notified 112 and his neighbors.

Initial examinations at the scene revealed that Yusuf Hakan Ö., who was born with a disability, had died due to a cut in his throat area, while it was understood that mother Ümran Ö. also had a similar cut in her throat area but had not died.

Ümran Ö., who was in critical condition, lost her life at the hospital where she was taken.

The 112 emergency personnel who arrived at the scene shared the information that the razor used in the incident was in the mother's hand during the initial intervention.
